Overview: The Diploma in Caregiving program is designed to train students to provide compassionate care for individuals who are elderly, young, disabled, or recovering from illness or surgery. Graduates will be equipped to assist with daily living tasks, manage non-medical aspects of patient care, and provide emotional support to clients in homes, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Aid with bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
  • Provide Basic Medical Support: Help manage medication schedules, monitor health conditions, and assist with medical devices under professional supervision.
  • Offer Companionship and Emotional Support: Provide emotional reassurance, engage in conversation, and facilitate recreational activities.
  • Light Housekeeping and Home Management: Perform light cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with Exercise and Physical Therapy: Help patients with prescribed exercises or physical therapy under guidance.
  • Monitor Health and Safety: Ensure the patient’s environment is safe and comfortable, and report any significant health changes.

Scope of Practice:

Caregivers work under the supervision of healthcare professionals or family members. They are not authorized to administer medical treatments, injections, or perform complex medical procedures. Their role is to assist with non-medical care and daily living activities.

Duration: 7 Months

Overview: The Diploma in Nursing Assistant program trains students to assist registered nurses (RNs) and physicians in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and home healthcare environments. Students will learn to provide direct patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), and perform basic medical tasks under supervision.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients with personal hygiene, mobility, dressing, and feeding.
  • Monitor and Record Vital Signs: Take and document patients’ temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.
  • Provide Basic Medical Care Under Supervision: Assist with basic wound care, and support medical staff during treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • Assist with Nutrition and Hydration: Help patients with feeding and monitor fluid intake.
  • Provide Emotional Support: Offer companionship and help alleviate patient discomfort.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Maintain clean environments and prevent the spread of infections.

Scope of Practice:

Nursing Assistants work under the supervision of registered nurses or licensed practical nurses. They are trained to perform many hands-on tasks but are not authorized to administer medications, make medical diagnoses, or perform complex medical procedures.

Overview: The Phlebotomy Technician Certificate program equips students with the skills to collect blood samples, perform laboratory tests, and assist healthcare professionals in diagnostic procedures. Students will learn safe blood collection techniques, laboratory procedures, and the proper handling of specimens.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques.
  • Proper handling, labeling, and transport of blood specimens.
  • Infection control and safety protocols.
  • Patient care during blood draws, including reassuring and calming patients.
  • Documentation and accurate reporting of test results.

Career Opportunities: Phlebotomy technicians work in hospitals, clinics, blood donation centers, and diagnostic laboratories.

Duration: 3 days (Intensive)

Overview: The First Aid/CPR Certificate program trains students to respond effectively in medical emergencies. Students will learn to perform CPR, manage first aid for injuries and illnesses, and handle life-threatening situations until professional help arrives.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants.
  • First aid for burns, fractures, cuts, and scrapes.
  • Management of medical emergencies, such as strokes, heart attacks, and seizures.
  • Safety precautions in emergency settings.

Career Opportunities: This certification is essential for many healthcare and non-healthcare jobs, including in schools, sports, fitness, childcare, and workplaces.

Admission Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing Assistant, Caregiving & Phlebotomy Technician:
    • Minimum – 5 credit pass including English, Math’s, and Biology in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WAEC, NECO or equivalent)
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Certificate in First Aid/CPR:
    • Open to all individuals; no prior healthcare education is required.
  • MDCN – Foreign-trained Medical doctors and dentists

Application Form: N5,000

Class Attendance: You must have at least 80% class attendance to qualify for the final exams and graduation.

Internship: Internship is a mandatory requirement for the programs. You may carry it out either at one of our partnered hospitals or at a hospital of your choice.
