How do you prepare candidates for the MDCN licensing examination?
Our MDCN Preparatory Programme is designed to give foreign-trained doctors the knowledge, clinical skills and confidence they need to succeed in the MDCN licensing examination.
The programme includes:
- Comprehensive lectures in Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Community Medicine.
- Well-structured study materials aligned with the MDCN examination.
- Computer-Based Test (CBT) and OSCE mock examinations that simulate the actual exam.
- Clinical skills demonstrations and hands-on practice.
- Past question discussions and exam-focused revision.
- Mentorship and study support from experienced facilitators.
Our goal is not just to help you pass the examination, but to prepare you for safe and confident clinical practice.
Are your programs accredited?
Yes. Our healthcare programmes are internationally accredited by the Skills Development Council (SDC) Canada. MedScholar Academy is also registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Federal Ministry of Education. We are currently undergoing our regulatory approval process with the Federal Ministry of Health.
Do you provide certificates after training?
Yes.
Students who successfully complete their programme receive:
- A MedScholar Academy Certificate
- An Academic Transcript
- A First Aid Certificate (where applicable)
- A certificate from our international partner
Our certificates can be verified through the appropriate verification channels.

- Caregiving – Ideal for those interested in providing personal care and support in homes, care facilities and community settings.

What is the difference between the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) and Nursing Assistant (NA) programmes?
Both programmes prepare students for healthcare support roles and share many of the same practical skills. However, they are designed for different career pathways.
- Healthcare Assistant (HCA): Suitable for healthcare support roles in Nigeria and in many countries where the Healthcare Assistant role is recognised.
- Nursing Assistant (NA): Intended for students pursuing opportunities in countries where the Nursing Assistant role exists. Please note that Nursing Assistant is not currently recognised as a professional healthcare cadre in Nigeria.
Neither programme is better than the other. The right choice depends on your career goals and where you intend to work.
What are the entry requirements?
Most of our healthcare support programmes require a minimum of a secondary school education.
Some advanced programmes may require previous healthcare training or experience.

Do you offer online training?
Yes.
Most of our programmes combine online classroom learning with practical sessions and internship, giving students the flexibility to study from different locations while still gaining hands-on clinical experience.
Is internship compulsory?
Yes. Internship is a compulsory part of all our healthcare diploma and certificate programmes because it provides supervised practical experience in a real healthcare setting.
For Onsite Students (Nigeria)
Internships are arranged through MedScholar Academy’s network of partner hospitals, clinics, care facilities and other approved healthcare institutions.
For Online Students (Nigeria & International)
Students complete their internship at an approved hospital, clinic or care facility in their own location. MedScholar Academy provides:
- An introduction or recommendation letter (where required).
- A clinical logbook and internship guidelines.
- Support throughout the internship process.
At the end of the internship, the host facility must issue a Certificate of Completion or an equivalent confirmation of successful internship. This must be submitted to MedScholar Academy for verification before the student is eligible to sit for the final examination and graduate.
What does the tuition cover?
The tuition fee varies depending on the programme you’ve enrolled in.
For the MDCN Preparatory Programme
Your tuition includes:
- Comprehensive lectures across all major disciplines.
- Access to study materials (soft copy).
- Computer-Based Test (CBT) and OSCE mock examinations.
- Clinical skills demonstrations.
- Mentorship and academic support.
For Healthcare Training Programmes
Your tuition includes:
- Classroom lectures and practical training.
- Training manual (hard copy or soft copy, depending on the programme).
- Clinical logbook.
- Student ID card.
- Two sets of MedScholar Academy scrubs.
- Clinical training equipment (where applicable).
- Graduation.
- Programme certificate(s).
- Recommendation or introduction letters for internship or employment, where applicable.
Please note: Internship fees are not included in the tuition fee and are paid directly to the hospital or healthcare facility where you complete your internship.
Do your programs make me a “Nurse”?
No.
Our Healthcare Assistant, Caregiving and Nursing Assistant programmes are healthcare support programmes. They do not qualify graduates as registered nurses or licensed nursing professionals.
Can these certificates support international career opportunities?
Yes.
Many of our graduates have used these programmes as part of their journey towards international healthcare careers.
However, every country has its own immigration, employment and professional licensing requirements. Completing our programmes does not automatically guarantee employment or migration.
Can I work in Nigeria after completing my programme?
Healthcare Assistant and Caregiving graduates may work in appropriate healthcare support roles in Nigeria, subject to employer requirements.
The Nursing Assistant programme is intended for countries where the Nursing Assistant role exists and should not be used as a professional healthcare title within Nigeria.
Can I pay my tuition fees in instalments?
Yes.
We understand that paying tuition at once may not be convenient for everyone. We offer flexible payment options, and in many cases students can pay in instalments. Please speak with our admissions team to discuss the available payment plan for your programme
Do you offer hostel accommodation?
At the moment, we do not provide hostel accommodation.
However, we can recommend nearby accommodation options for students relocating to Abuja.
