This 6-month advanced diploma programme combines classroom learning with supervised clinical experience, helping students develop specialised knowledge and practical skills in geriatric and palliative care.

Programme Structure

The 6-month programme combines classroom learning, supervised clinical experience, revision and final assessment, with structured transition periods between major phases.

Weeks 1–5

Classroom & Coursework

Five weeks of structured instruction covering geriatric care, palliative care, pain management, psychosocial support, end-of-life care and person-centred care.

Week 6

Transition Break

A one-week break between completion of classroom training and commencement of the clinical internship.

Months 2–5

Internship & Clinical Training

Four months of supervised clinical experience where students apply their knowledge and develop practical skills in geriatric and palliative care settings.

1 Week

Post-Internship Break

A one-week transition period following completion of the clinical internship.

Revision

Focused revision of the programme content in preparation for the final assessment.

Scope of Practice

Graduates work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals, providing supportive, non-invasive geriatric and palliative care.

Graduates are not trained to perform advanced medical procedures.

Clinical Training

Four Months of Supervised Clinical Experience

The programme includes a four-month supervised clinical internship designed to provide practical experience in geriatric and palliative care environments.

During the internship, students have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge and develop practical skills in caring for older adults and individuals with chronic or life-limiting conditions.

The clinical component also provides experience in patient communication, family support, comfort-focused care and multidisciplinary teamwork.
