Do you provide certificates after training?
Yes ✅. Upon successful completion of coursework, internship, and final assessments, students receive:
- An internationally accredited certificate from our global learning partners (Skill Development Council Canada)
- A MedScholar Academy certificate with transcript and recommendation letters
What is the difference between HCA and CNA?
Both programs share the same core curriculum and global standards.
- HCA Certificate → For employment in Nigeria and the UK, where “Healthcare Assistant” is the recognized title.
- CNA Certificate → For international roles in the USA, Canada, and other countries where “CNA” is required.
- CNA also includes a few extra modules.
✅ Both are globally benchmarked and can support opportunities abroad — the main difference is the certificate title and target job market.
Can I upgrade from HCA to CNA?
Yes ✅. HCA graduates can upgrade by completing the additional CNA modules.
- Steps to upgrade:
- Complete the HCA program (6 months + internship).
- Enroll for the CNA top-up modules (1-month online program).
- Pay the upgrade fee ₦85,000 to cover the extra training, transcript, and certificate.

Can CNA graduates also get an HCA certificate?
Yes ✅. Since the CNA program includes all HCA content plus extra modules, CNA graduates already meet the HCA requirements.
- If you plan to work in Nigeria or the UK, you may request an HCA certificate in addition to your CNA.
- A ₦50,000 fee applies for certificate and transcript processing.
What are the entry requirements?
- Diploma & Certificate Programs (HCA, CNA, Caregiving, Phlebotomy): 5 credit passes including English & Mathematics (WAEC, NECO, or equivalent).
- MDCN Prep: For foreign-trained medical or dental doctors only.
- First Aid/CPR Certificate: Open to all – no prior healthcare background required
Do you offer online training?
Yes. All programs are available onsite in Abuja and online (live interactive classes) for students anywhere in Nigeria or abroad.
Can I transfer from online to onsite classes?
Yes. Students may switch from online to onsite (or vice versa) during their program, subject to availability and approval from the academy.
Is internship compulsory?
Onsite Students (Nigeria)
✅ Internship is mandatory for all diploma and certificate programs.
Placements are arranged directly through MedScholar Academy’s partner hospitals, clinics, care facilities, or other approved centers.
Online Students (Nigeria & Abroad)
Internship is also compulsory. Students will complete their internship at a hospital, clinic, or care home in their own location. MedScholar provides:
- Reference/recommendation letter for placement
- Logbook and training guidelines
- Support for supervision requirements
After completion, the host facility issues a Certificate of Completion, which must be submitted to MedScholar for verification before the student is allowed to sit for the final examination and graduation.
What is the attendance requirement?
Students must maintain at least 80% attendance to qualify for final exams and graduation.
What does the tuition cover?
For MDCN Programs:
- Comprehensive lectures across all major disciplines
- Access to all study materials (soft copy)
- Mock exams (CBT + OSCE)
- Mentorship and academic support
For Healthcare Training Programs:
- Full course training and supervised practice
- Training manual (hard copy or soft copy)
- Clinical logbook
- Student ID card
- Scrubs/uniform
- Certificates
- Recommendation letters for job/internship applications
Do your programs make me a “Nurse”?
No. “Nurse” is a protected title regulated by the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Our programs train support roles such as Healthcare Assistants, CNAs, Caregivers, and Technicians.
Can I use my certificate abroad?
Yes ✅. All our certificates are globally benchmarked. While job requirements vary by country, our graduates successfully use their training for opportunities abroad.
Can I get a job with your certificate in Nigeria?
Yes ✅. Our certificates are widely accepted in Nigeria, and many of our graduates have successfully secured employment in:
- Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing homes & care homes, NGOs and community health organizations and Private home-care agencies.
Can I use both HCA and CNA certificates when applying for jobs?
We recommend using the certificate that matches your career path:
- HCA → For Nigerian hospitals, clinics, care homes, and also recognized in the UK.
- CNA → For international applications in USA and Canada, where this title is the standard.
👉 Both share the same foundation, but CNA includes extra modules. To avoid confusion with employers, we advise presenting only the certificate relevant to your job application
Do you offer hostel or accommodation for students?
Yes. Accommodation support can be arranged for students relocating to Abuja for onsite training.
