Course Outline
Introduction to Caregiving: Learn the basic scope of a caregiver’s job including how to preserve your clients’ safety and integrity, help with mobility and independence, and how to work within the rules and regulations that govern your job.
Person Centered Care: In this course you will about the person’s background, culture, beliefs, and preferences, person’s unique needs and concerns, person’s autonomy and choices, building a trusting relationship, creating a supportive and empathetic environment, and tailoring care to the individual.
Communication: Learn effective communication techniques for building rapport and ensuring a positive caregiving experience.
Client and Their Rights: learn how client rights are important in caregiving, obtaining informed consent and providing client with clear and understandable information
The Caregiver: learn about the professional caregiver and their role in the healthcare team
Skin and Body Care: Learn to capably assist a client with personal care tasks like bathing, dressing and grooming, as well as oral care, foot care and even how to give a client a gentle massage.
Infection Control and Prevention: Good infection control starts with proper hand washing, but continues through many steps the caregiver can take. Understanding this topic will help you keep your clients – and yourself and others – as healthy as possible.
Mobility: Helping clients with mobility includes learning skills to safely assist with transferring, walking, range of motion and more. The goal is to keep your clients moving, while keeping them and you safe.
Nutrition and Food Handling: This course covers personal hygiene, food hygiene, and sanitation. It includes handling and storage of foodstuffs, processing of foodstuffs, the nutritional values of foods and related diseases.
Toileting: This course will help the caregiver understand the entire digestive process and know what to watch for in clients to ensure good bowel and bladder function, as well as good toileting and incontinence care.
Nurse Delegation and Medication: Learn the basics of delegation, how to administer medication, and how to perform some specific health care procedures from this course
Selfcare for caregiver: In this course, you will learn the importance of selfcare as a caregiver.
Vital Signs: Learn heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, respiration rate. communicate important information about the physiological status of the human body
Common Diseases of Importance: In this course you will learn common diseases of importance that is usually associated with clients, how to help them gain relief from symptoms and treatment.
Emergency Care and First Aid: In this course you will learn basic first aid including, burns and poisons, heat attack and shock, chocking and falls, stroke and wounds, and other emergencies.
